Two years later, as our fellow Niner Nation continues to push through every day enduring the hardships of our current situation, we must never forget the heartbreaking tragedy that took the lives of two and injured four others. I have nothing but my own heartbreak and guilt from this tragic event that continues to haunt me even now. I was only still a freshman during my spring semester who had went back home for the day when all of a sudden, my phone alerted me to something I never thought would ever happen to me nor my own
university. In the days following that horrific incident, I grew closer to my Niner Nation community more than ever as I attended the candlelight vigil and gathered with my fellow Niners, some of whom I had not seen since my SOAR orientation, to mourn and pray for those we lost and those affected. Even if we are unable to gather yet again to mourn and pray for our university’s time of need this year, let it be known that no matter the scope of any tragedy we face right now and into the future, we are and always will be Charlotte
