My son will be a senior at UNC Charlotte next fall. Right now my heart aches for the families of those lost and injured. On 9/11/01 I was a FDNY Lieutenant, and I personally witnessed heroism not just on that tragic day but on a daily basis as a firefighter. What Riley Howell did that day to save his fellow students was an amazing act of heroism. He deserves a statue in his honor so we can be reminded everyday what a true hero looks like.
